03/09/2008 - Adkins backs Notts to do well
Scunthorpe United manager Nigel Adkins believes Notts County will enjoy a good season in League Two if they keep producing performances like they did against his side at Glanford Park last night.
But he still felt his side deserved to beat the Magpies, even though it took them until injury-time to stage a fight-back.
He said: "They are a good footballing side and I think they will do well this season if they keep playing like that.
"We knew it wasn't going to be easy but I think we deserved the win. We had so many chances and in the end we showed great character and won the game.
"We had not given up and Paul Hayes has popped up with two headers. It was a great header at the far post from the corner.
"We started a little bit sloppily with our passing and it was a poor goal we gave away. That gave them something to hang on to.
"The objective was to get through and we have done that and we are on the road to Wembley."
